In his Rookie season with the Rumble, Chris Kocher has time and time again shown that he is a valuable asset to New York ultimate.
Kocher came to the Rumble with an impressive resume, competing at U20 Worlds, playing for George Washington University’s G-Dub Ultimate team and participating on the 2013 NexGen tour. Kocher put up some impressive numbers, vaulting himself into the Rookie of the Year conversation, scoring 11 goals and 21 assists.
I had the chance to interview Kocher recently, and here’s what he said about his time with the Rumble:
Q: You have an extremely impressive résumé. How do you feel all of this has prepared you for where you are now?
“I’ve been lucky enough to get to play with and against a lot of great players. This has definitely made me a better player and teammate.”
Q: You have had a lot of highlights this year. Do you have any games that you felt were particularly exciting to play in?
“I really enjoyed our last game against Philadelphia. Everyone played really well and we were able to stay positive and focused for the entire game. In a lot of our games we would play two or three good quarters, but against Philly in Week 9 we were able to stay sharp for the whole game.”
Q: How are you feeling going into the end of the season? What can we expect from the Rumble going forward?
“We looked to end the season with a win. The year didn’t go as planned, and unfortunately we did not make the playoffs, but we still had a strong desire to end the season on a high note with a win against D.C.”
Although Kocher and the Rumble were not able to make the playoffs this season, we enjoyed watching him in his rookie season and look forward to seeing even bigger things out of him next season.
