Following a disappointing 28-15 loss to the Current last Saturday, the Rumble dropped one spot in the MLU Power Rankings to No. 6.

With a victory, the Rumble could have claimed at least a tie for the top spot in the East. Instead, New York now sits in third place in the conference as the first half of the season comes to a close.

However, New York Head Coach Anthony Nuñez said his team does not put much stock in the power rankings.

“We are focusing on our team, and that is all,” Nunez said. “Power rankings are great, but they do not affect us.”

It’s an understandably brief response from a team who had expected to build on the momentum of their first victory over the Boston Whitecaps in franchise history.

The Rumble can avenge their loss this weekend in a rematch with the Current this Saturday at the Eagle’s Nest at Union City High School at 7:00 p.m. Catch the free fan bus leaving from 37th and 9th Avenue directly to the stadium one hour before the start of the game.
