Chris Mazur is primarily a defensive handler with a variety of throws, mainly his mighty forehand, making him a formidable addition to the Rumble.
Chris began his playing career in college at the University of Miami. While there, he had the opportunity of learning the fundamentals of the game from the Master team, the Miami Refugees, who had just come off winning a World Championship.
Though he only had two official years of college eligibility, over his four years, he helped build the program from the ground up from missing Sectionals his freshman year to having both the B team and a women’s team play in the series during his senior year.
After graduating, he co-founded the mixed club team District 5 in 2010 and placed 2nd and 3rd respectively at USAU Club Nationals in their first two years in existence. In 2012, he made the switch to open, where he played on PoNY and the Connecticut Constitution as a defensive handler, as well as acting as Vice President of Creative Development for the Connecticut Constitution.
Chris is very passionate and optimistic about joining the Rumble and MLU this season. “Being a part of the MLU gives Ultimate enthusiasts a unique opportunity to effect real change on the landscape of the sport we love,” says Chris. “I am most excited about seeing the weekly donations from the league help youth programs flourish. The future of the sport is bright, and we are the lucky few that get to be involved during these very important years of change. [I’m] looking forward to bringing lessons learned in year 1 of my professional career into the Rumble huddle, hopefully giving us a leg up early in the season.”
