The NY Rumble is proud to announce Michelle Kondracki as their new GM. A passionate Ultimate player, coach and fan, Kondracki comes to the job with plenty of motivation and a remarkable confidence in the MLU vision and her ability to see it through.
“I was immediately impressed with Michelle when I spoke with her,” says MLU Commissioner Jeff Snader. “She has the confidence and determination that we require of our General Managers here at the MLU. To top it off, she has a very organized work ethic and she’s the type of person that will get things done, and get them done right.”
Kondracki is a Penn State grad with a Masters in accounting and has played Ultimate since her first days of college. From Penn State, she moved on to play with Jukebox Hero in Florida and Blueprint in NJ. She was then sidelined by a difficult injury and had to rethink her relationship to the sport.
“I originally started coaching because I had to get surgery,” says Kondracki, “and I didn’t think I would be able to play ever again. After my first week of coaching, I realized how much I loved being a bigger part of a team.”
Kondracki co-coached the women’s team at Rutgers and took third place at Regionals, a major improvement over the previous year. She went on to coach the Devyl under-19 team, forming the team and helping them continue their impressive youth Ultimate performance.
She is constantly looking for ways to be more involved in the sport and with her background in accounting and finance, management seemed a natural choice.
“I’ve always told everyone what an amazing spectator sport Ultimate is,” says Kondracki, “and I am excited to be working with the NY Rumble to prove it.”
Kondracki will be working hard to get the Rumble ready for their opening week meeting with the Boston Whitecaps. There are high expectations in every market and NY is certainly no exception.
“She’s the GM of the biggest sports town in the world,” Snader says. “It’s not what we expect of her, it’s what the city expects of her that will be her biggest challenge.”
