The New York Rumble look to upset the MLU Eastern Conference leaders when they meet the Philadelphia Spinners this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
Last week the Rumble couldn’t keep their steam throughout the game as they fell to the Boston Whitecaps 14-12 in the fourth quarter. New York is currently sitting in fourth place in the MLU Eastern Conference with an overall record of 1-4. The Spinners are first in the conference with a record of 4-1. A victory against the Spinners is just what New York needs to gather some forward motion heading into the latter half of this season.
The Rumble have faced the Spinners once this season falling to them 21-16. New York came out strong in the beginning of that game, going into halftime with a two-point lead. Unfortunately, a small traveling squad to the game gave Philadelphia the opportunity to come back, as New York ran out of steam. However, the first half of the game showed that they can play with the Eastern Conference leaders.
Going into the game this week, the Rumble are missing some key players in Quinn Hunziker, Josue Alorro, Chris Kocher, Matt Weintraub, Marques Brownlee and Jibran Mieser, who suffered a season-ending Lisfranc fracture two weeks ago against the Current.
The Spinners enter this game with a 4-1 record after narrowly pulling out a win against the D.C. Current 19-18 last week.
“I highly respect the Spinners as a team,” said Head Coach Anthony Nuñez. “I know several of the guys that play for them and know they are very talented. With that said we hope to be the team that stops their winning streak. If we play our game, we have the ability to win.”
