After being rained out last weekend, the Rumble look to stop the DC Current this Saturday, this time at the Eagle’s Nest in Union City, NJ.

Coming off their first win of the season over the Philadelphia Spinners in a double-overtime thriller, you can bet that the Rumble will come out fired up and hungry for another win. That may not be the easiest thing however, as DC will also be looking to regroup and come out strong, after a devastating loss against the Boston Whitecaps. With both teams having a lot to prove as they try to climb to the top of the Eastern Conference, you can expect this one to go down to the wire.

For the Rumble, they seem to be the “almost” team this season, keeping themselves in every game until the very end. They have clearly demonstrated that not only can they hang with every team in the league, but also are capable of grinding out a win, after coming up strong in a double-overtime thriller against Philadelphia. If they come out with a win against the Current, the Rumble will be in a good position to leapfrog the Spinners for second place.

Look for the Rumble to turn to Chris Mazur and Ben Faust, who led the way and combined for several scores last week vs. the Spinners. Mazur and Faust currently sit second and third amongst the leading scorers in the the league with a combined 19 goals and 26 assists on the season. Along with Dan Heijmen (7G, 9A), New York certainly has the star power to compete with the Current’s big three of Tom Doi, Alan Kolick and Sean Keegan.

D.C. also has two players in the top ten of scoring in the league, and the Rumble defense led by Joe Anderson and Rob Baker will have to shut down the explosive offense of the Whitecaps. DC’s Alan Kolick, who is currently 2nd in the league in assists and has an incredible 94 percent completion on 203 passes in just four games, will likely be the biggest threat.  The Rumble will have to pull out all of the stops to ensure the Current offense goes through other handlers if they want to have a chance.

This Saturday will also be a blackout! All Rumble fans are encouraged to wear black in support of their home team to help “Blackout” the Current. Limited edition one-time “Blackout in NYC” shirts will be for sale at the merchandise booth. Purchase tickets to make sure you don’t miss out on the action!
