The Rumble announced today the re-signing of Jibran Mieser for the 2016 season, his third with the team. This brings the Rumble’s 2016 roster up to 8.
The Rumble announced today that Jibran Mieser, who’s season was cut short by injury in 2015, is healthy and has re-signed with the club for 2016.
Mieser, who had 4 goals and 2 blocks on just 45 points played in 2014 looked like he was going to be a strong candidate for MLU Breakout Player of the Year early in 2015. In his first 26 points played of 2015, Mieser recorded 6 goals and an impressive 8 blocks. Unfortunately for Mieser and the Rumble, the 5’10”, 170lb cutter from Rutgers suffered a Lisfranc fracture during the third point of his third game of 2015 against the Washington D.C. Current.
“I am excited to continue working with Jibran this coming season.” said Rumble Head Coach Eileen Murray, “Not only is he a fantastic player, but his leadership and mentoring of younger players is going to be invaluable. He has great vision, and I look forward to collaborating with him on strategy and team dynamics to build the new Rumble.”
Only 22 years old, Mieser fits with the “new Rumble” youth movement that Head Coaches Murray and Anthony Nuñez have started building in New York.
A true competitor, Mieser can’t wait to get on the field:
“It all boils down to being able to do what I love and that’s playing frisbee. When I can’t play I’m just not myself.” said Mieser, “I expect to pick up right where I left off for the start of the 2016 season. I expect the Rumble to surprise some people this season. My full trust is with Coaches Murray and Nuñez to reshape this team to make a run in 2016.”
A healthy Mieser will be a significant piece for the Rumble in 2016, along with fellow veterans Scott Xu, Charlie Patten and Marques Brownlee, as well as rookies Andrew Manganelli, Andrew Auyeung, John Irvine and Charlie Cannon.
