The Rumble continued to grow their team today, announcing the signings of five players with MLU playing experience to the 2016 roster.

The New York Rumble announced today that they have signed veteran players Matt Weintraub, Jacob Price, Matt Wilson, Quinn Hunziker and Bo Li.  Each of these signees has at least one season of MLU playing experience and will bring a solid core of veterans to a very young Rumble roster.

Weintraub (5’11”, 180lbs) was a rookie for the Rumble in 2015.  A long handler out of Rutgers, the Rumble had high hopes for Weintraub during his rookie campaign, but an injury in his first game limited him to just 12 points played all season.  In those 12 points, Weintraub completed 100% of his attempted passes.

Price (5’7″, 165lbs), a Brown University product was also a rookie in 2015.  Seeing limited time on a veteran roster, Price tallied a goal, 2 assists and 2 blocks on 76 points played last season.

Both Weintraub and Price currently play on Garden State Club Team, coached by Eileen Murray, one of the Rumble’s Head Coaches.

“Both Matt and Jake have amazing work ethics.” said Murray, “I am always confident that they are putting in the time physically and mentally to better themselves as players. They lead by example.”

Also re-joining the Rumble this season are Wilson and Hunziker, both members of the 2014 squad.

Wilson (5’11, 170lbs) brings a very accomplished ultimate résumé to the roster, especially for only being 24 years old.  A graduate of Pennsbury High School, Wilson was a member of 3 State Championship teams (07-09) and 2 Eastern Championship teams (07,09) before playing his college ultimate at Temple University in Philadelphia.  Wilson is currently a member of Garden State.  In 2014, Wilson was a major part of the Rumble defense, tallying 3 assists and 5 blocks on 117 points played.

Hunziker (5’10”, 175lbs) is another player that the Rumble will gladly welcome back to their D-line.  Another Pennsbury High School grad, Hunziker racked up 6 goals, 2 assists and 9 blocks (2nd on the team) on just 99 points played in 2014.  While Hunziker took the 2015 season off from all ultimate, he has previously played for the PoNY Club Team.

“Matt Wilson and Quinn Hunziker are two guys who generate big plays on many occasions.” said Rumble Coach Anthony Nuñez “On top of their athleticism they bring a pro experience since they both were on the Rumble a year ago. Matt is a shut down defender and has a very high motor. He is constantly on the move. Quinn’s athletic presence is something we missed last season, and I am glad he is back and ready to play.”

Li (5’10”, 175lbs) joins the Rumble for the first time in 2016, but spent the 2014 season as a part of the Philadelphia Spinners. A role player for the Spinners, Li only saw 16 points played, completely 100% of his passes and recording a block. A graduate of Cornell University, Li plays with several of his new Rumble teammates and coaches on Garden State.

“Bo Li coming back to the MLU is very exciting.” said Nuñez, “He has been a key player on the club team GSU both on and off the field. He is a consistent handler who is very smart on the field. He has tremendous field sense and will be a vocal leader both on the field and in the locker room.”
