New York signed Jack Marsh on Wednesday, their final signing before their formal tryout process.
No stranger to the professional Ultimate scene, Marsh comes over to the Rumble from the AUDL’s New York Empire, where he played during the 2013 season.
Like recent signing Dave Vuckovich, Marsh has also played club Ultimate with several Rumble players on New York’s PoNY, where he captained the team.
“Aside from his unbelievable play, Jack brings a certain confidence that is infectious,” said teammate Robbie Gillies. “His focus alone will make everyone on the Rumble a better player.”
Having previously played with several Rumble players in the club scene, the Rumble believe Marsh will make a seamless transition to the MLU.
“One of the major reasons we signed Jack was because of the chemistry he formed with most of our key players,” said General Manager Michelle Kondracki. “It should not take long for this team to find their groove with Jack on the field.”
A complete player, Marsh will bring a new dynamic to the Rumble in 2014.
“Jack is a threat with the disc in his hands, cutting downfield, shutting down the other team’s best player, or getting that crucial block in the clutch,” said PoNY teammate and 2013 MLU Eastern Conference MVP Chris Mazur. “Whatever you need, Jack Marsh can deliver.”
In addition to his elite Ultimate skills, Marsh is also known for his tremendous leadership, a welcome characteristic for this upcoming season.
“He is a proven leader and a great athlete and we can’t wait to see him on the field helping the Rumble win games,” said Kondracki.
