The New York Rumble are proud to announce the re-signing of defensive cutter Jon “Waldo” Cox.

Cox tallied 24 points last season, throwing 20 assists and catching four goals. He was also second on the team in defensive plays, racking up 15 D’s.

Cox began his Ultimate career with the Pranksters at Middlebury College in 2007. He was a part of the first team to qualify for Nationals in Middlebury’s history.

Teammate Robbie Gillies, who re-signed with the Rumble in November, is excited to reunite on the field with Cox. “Don’t let his off-field demeanor fool you, Waldo is one of the most competitive and intense players you’ll ever meet,” said Gillies. “I don’t know how many times I saw a pass going towards his receiver and knowing even before the throw was released that he was going to get the D. I can’t wait to play with him again as he continues to improve and show everyone he’s one of the best defenders in the game.”

General Manager Michelle Kondracki also expressed her excitement for seeing Cox in a Rumble uniform again this season. “Having Jon Cox back in our defensive lineup was a major goal that the Rumble accomplished,” Kondracki said. “Cox is probably one of the best defenders in the league and always comes up with a key block. I am excited [to see] the highlights Waldo will put up this season.”

Cox joins several other Rumble players who have already signed with the team for the 2014 season, including Gillies, Isaac Saul, Joe Anderson, Chris Mazur and Ben Faust.
