The Rumble look to get a win on the road this week when they travel up to Boston to play the Whitecaps this Saturday, June 6 at 5:00 p.m.
New York, currently sitting at 1-5, is coming off a loss against Philadelphia last week, 25-10. In that game the Spinners used an 8-2 run in the second quarter and a 7-2 run in the third quarter to take a commanding lead. Chris Mazur and Michael Hennessy both played well last week, and will need similar performances this week if the Rumble want to defeat the 3-3 Whitecaps.
The Rumble last played the Whitecaps in Week 6 at home, losing 14-12. The game featured a number of drops from both teams as the conditions were fairly windy.
Coach Anthony Nuñez was confident that the Rumble would be able to move on from their recent losses and play well this week.
“We have made some adjustments and [are] focusing on everyone’s strengths,” said Nuñez. “We are a very unified team and do not allow the past to dictate what we will do in the future.”
David Vuckovich agreed the team can’t dwell on the past and think about their previous mistakes.
“We just have to stop thinking so much and play frisbee. Let the players play,” said Vuckovich.
The Rumble will be without Quinn Hunziker and Matthew Weintraub this week and Mazur is questionable with an ankle injury. However, New York will get David Vuckovich and Marques Brownlee back this week, all of whom were inactive last week.
Last week the defensive line for the Rumble struggled to get break points against the Spinners. They will need to generate more break points against the Whitecaps this week if they want to come out victorious.
